Here we go again
Well, it’s back to the fun stuff: work, class, class, work! Actually, my schedule isn’t so brutal this semester, and I think I’ll even be able to find some (much-needed) time to squeeze in at the gym! I attended my only two classes today: Native American Histories, and Human Rights Activism. There are a LOT of people in each class, way more than I am used to. I have taken many classes with in my major, and those classes tend to be pretty small, like between 5 and 15 people. But both of my classes today probably had at least 50 people in attendance. I’m sure it will cut down after shopping period, though.
Both of my classes seem really interesting and not incredibly work-intensive. In fact, I’m only going to have 4 real papers to write this semester. What a relief–now I can focus more time on my thesis! I think I’ve made good choices this semester. These classes seem like ones I can learn a lot from without totally busting my ass and being stressed all the time. The thesis and my two jobs are stressful enough.
I’m thinking of putting in more hours at my jobs, too. I work 6 hours per week at the library already, and I’ll probably work at least 10 hours in the dining hall. But I’d like to up my dining hall hours to 12-15, so I can make some more money. I need new tires for my car (my dad bought the first pair, and I said I’d get the second) and I need books for this semester… and I have NO money, at all. Heh. And I don’t really like to ask my parents for money. Sometimes they offer (like with the tires) but I take care of all my bills, expenses, etc. on my own.
My old roommate, Laura, is back from study abroad in Niger this semester, and I’ve been hanging out with a bunch of my other friends, so that’s pretty cool. We had a very fun Transfer Student Alliance dinner on Sunday night, and tomorrow night a bunch of us are going to go out for my birthday! Hopefully, heh.
So I think the semester is looking good so far… but we’ll see how I feel by April :P
